This Saturday we’ll be meeting up at the Cemetery. There are a few jobs required but I’m sure yet which ones we’ll tackle.
Collecting soil for a new wildflower bed and taking it to The Green. Also making duck protection for seeded area.
Retrieving bagged trees from the brambles.
Re-potting and sorting others by the fence and organising the tree nursery
Removing wire from hedge.
Well decide on the morning so will meet by the fence between the allotments and the Cemetery.
Also thanks to everyone for helping last Saturday to dismantle and put away the igloo. I know lots of people have said how nice it’s been to have for more than just the Grotto event so I’ll ask the PC to consider permanent installation.
I know it’s short notice but look forward to seeing you if you can make it.
Calling all elves!
Your help is greatly needed to transform the Crossing Keepers Hut into Santa’s Grotto.
There’s a lot to do and a variety of jobs from erecting and decorating the main tree, setting out the power, hanging the lights & decorations, spreading chippings, covering the igloo, erecting the gazebo, decorating the hut, building and decorating the little trees, setting out the reindeer, inflating Santa, possibly setting up a glow trail, ushering the queue, minding the fires etc….
We’ll be there from 10am until about 8pm so if you are available to help anytime that would great!
The lights will be switched on at approximately 4:45pm and tickets will go on sale before welcoming Santa at 5pm.
There’ll be pre recorded music and live entertainment from the Salvation Army Band and singers from Histon Baptist Church. If you (or a friend) would like to perform any suitable entertainment please let me know. The guides are hopefully offering mulled wine. There’ll also be plenty of food and drinks available at the pub, pllus Station Stores will be open as usual.
Many thanks for any offers.
Hope to see you there!
Relive the magic of previous years:
Many thanks to those who helped plant 2 sacks of daffodil bulbs by the Holiday Inn entrance last Saturday. Also on the previous Saturday when we planted 2000 crocus bulbs in the shape of a giant poppy in Homefield Park by the large beech tree. We just need to wait until springtime to see the results 😊
This Saturday we’ll be meeting up at The Copse by the Crossing Keepers Hut to spread chippings and build an igloo in readiness for Santa’s visit.
As usual all tools and refreshments will be provided. We just need you!
Hope to see you,
There will be a working party this Saturday (17th November) to plant daffodill bulbs at the entrance to the village near the Holiday Inn.
Come and help brighten up the village entry for the spring after all the deforestation that the A14 team have done a bit further down.
No experience or tools are required, sturdy shoes are recommended.
We will meet from 09:30am at the holiday Inn entrance.
