We were lucky with the weather on Sunday so had a great walk and lunch for our anniversary….but now we’re back to the Green Gym.
PLEASE NOTE – WORKING PARTY ON THE 23rd of JAN IS CANCELLED DUE TO FLU!
Many thanks for everyone’s help at the first enviro.volunteer working party of the new year last Saturday. We spread chippings at The Dole on the very muddy stretch near the entrance to Homefield Park.
We’ve got a few activities in the pipeline…….
This Saturday (16th 9:30-11:30am) we’ll be meeting up at The Copse (at the far end of the main path) to pot up some trees and spread chippings on the muddy path near the bridge.
Next Saturday (23rd 9:30-11:30am) we’ll be meeting up at The Cemetery to spread chippings and tend to the trees in the nursery.
The following Sunday 31st we’ll be meeting up for our anniversary walk and lunch. Details to follow shortly…..
Thank you to everyone who donated their Christmas Trees for chipping. Pictured below is local tree surgeon Matt Tates who did the chipping for us. http://www.tatestreework.co.uk/
Previously collected wood chipping were laid on the path in the dole which had become very muddy!
Info on upcoming working parties will be posted here and on the HI People facebook group.
The enviro.volunteers will be meeting up again this Saturday morning in Homefield Park by the main gate opposite the Memorial.
We’ll be spreading chippings, clearing leaves (to give the crocus bulbs a chance in spring) and planting a few spare hedge plants in The Dole.
We’ll also set up gazebos for a Public Art display and help artist Tim Ward, who has been commissioned to create a new feature entrance to the Park, gather feedback from all passers-by.
If you’re interested in art then you’re in for a treat this Saturday morning as there will be Public Art display in Homefield Park.
Artist Tim Ward has been commissioned to create a new feature entrance to the Park and will be on hand to show some examples of his work (from 11). He is also keen learn some of the history of the site and to gather feedback from all users of the park.
This project is the first part of a scheme for more Public Art in Histon & Impington so there will also be an opportunity for you to make suggestions for any ideas you’d like to see incorporated elsewhere in our villages.
The exhibition will be near the main entrance opposite the Memorial and runs from 11-3pm. Please feel free to pop in any time to offer a comment or two or just browse through the display.
We’ll start at 9:30am but the exhibition itself runs from 11-3pm.
Please feel free to pop in any time to lend a hand, offer a comment or two or just browse through the display.
Tools and refreshments provided for everyone!
hope to see you there.
